World Waqf Day

Today, the world has World Hijab Day, Sadaqa Day, World Zakat Forum, World Refugee Day (majority are Muslims), and so on, we, at iPORTAL and our partners, believe the time is ripe and right for World Waqf Day, July 1, especially during the CV19 pandemic and as part of the new normal.

The noble Waqf is ''ongoing charitable endowment (such as Sadaqah Jariyah) which has been widely used throughout Islamic history to develop and support communities.’ It’s about bringing positive impact in perpetuity by way of gifting an asset, land, cash, etc. In the west, institutions, non-profit and profit, in the few decades, have become more engaged in impact investing/funding, be it schools, hospitals/clinics, clean water, sanitation, housing for poor, in the emerging markets, which is how all the 57 Muslim majority countries are categorized. Islam has been encouraging and espousing positive community impact for over 1400 years.

World Waqf Day is about creating an awareness and educating about this noble gift to humankind. We will suggest activities for World Waqf Day that are about the plight of our fellow humans whose spirits and life, lives, and livelihood we should aim to uplift.
